Suzi's Lavender began with the love of lavender and the pursuit of truth as to whether or not it can be grown in Nebraska. Being optimists at heart, we were interested in growing a field of lavender, not just a few plants on a pampered mound of dirt.
A trip to Sequim Washington's Lavender Festival got us excited enough to plant a test plot. We planted five different varieties and experimented with three soil types. Within one year we were able to narrow our plant list to 3 varieties and learned of a soil layering technique that would insure healthy plants. Even though informed by "lavender experts," that we, would "never grow lavender in Nebraska," and "shouldn't waste our time and money," today we have over 250 Grosso, Hidcote and Provence plants in the filed. While this is not a huge operation, we were able to harvest approximately 60 pounds of fresh lavender stems in our first year!
From these plants we create our products. Thank you for visiting our website. If you are in the area between June 15th-July 6th call to arrange a visit to see the lavender in bloom.
