10 Simple Self Care Practices

Our lives are full of surprises and uncertainties that influence the way we live, how we feel and how healthy we really are. Each day can feel really challenging.  How do we navigate it all? Remember that everything was not meant to be easy. We can only take care of one thing at a time.  The place we call home, starts with our own body and mind and with taking care of ourselves.  If we embrace our daily challenges by spending personal time away, our perspective shifts and we feel more positive.

Breathe and Relax

The best way to start your day is to take a minute of deep breathing. Life is not designed to be all chaotic and stressful. Focus on the goodness of life and don’t be over-committed! Let go of the negatrons and relax!

Eat Healthy

Healthy food means a healthy body. Never disregard the importance of choosing the right food for your body. Make your own nourishing menu and indulge yourself in a hearty meal. Take note that what you eat is what you get.

Unplug from Technology

An hour away from technology gives you more benefits than you can ever imagine. Free yourself from the virtual advancements and you’ll surely appreciate the innate beauty of nature even more.

Get your body moving! Go for a morning run, do some biking, or shake your body. Endorphins and exercise are quite a pair to increase your level of happiness. So, time to move and stretch those sore muscles.

Do something new

Never be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and do something new. Whether it’s about getting a new job or trying a new sport, a new journey is definitely an exciting one.

Be Selfish Sometimes

Sometimes you need to be selfish and gift your inner child. Do the things that make you happy like munching a basket of sweets or running around like a mad person. Let the euphoria consume you even for just a day.

Read a book

A book a day keeps you going every day. Really, immersing yourself in a good book is beneficial. Books not only expand your comprehension but also encourage a sense of peace.

Be Thankful

Appreciate everything around you. By expressing gratitude you’ll feel more at ease with your blessings. Also, extend your appreciation to your loved ones.

Laugh Often

Laugh like this adorable being! Laughter is free and you can certainly take advantage of it. There’s nothing more beautiful than laughing your problems away. A good hearty laugh decreases your stress hormones and makes you young.

Take a Rest

Lastly, everyone deserves a good rest. If you can’t complete the recommended 7 to 9 hours of sleep, make sure to take quick naps to rejuvenate your body.

Formulating our products is one of my greatest joys. The scientist in me loves to ask questions and explore how to combine bioactive plant extracts with other natural and organic ingredients.  I like to think that by creating products that leave the skin feeling fresh, nourished and alive, I can contribute to the health and well being of myself and others. When I’m in the kitchen formulating, I keep four key benefits in mind: moisture, circulation, calming and inflammation.
